Infusions, herbal teas and supplements: here are natural remedies that can help you lose weight!

 

Green Tea

Increases the body’s energy expenditure and stimulates the metabolism. The merit of the action of catechins and caffeine, which contained in large quantities in the leaves. These substances help the cells to make more efficient use of energy: it is accelerated fat metabolism and slows their accumulation. The first to discover it was scientists at the University of Geneva: drinking green tea, according to their investigations, they would come to consume 4% more calories per day.

  • How: Leaf infusion.
  • Preparation of the infusion: Leave two teaspoons of green tea to infuse in boiling water at 80 degrees and not 100: high heat could damage the property of some substances. Enjoy it bitter, without adding sugar, lemon, milk and even honey.

Attention! : For the infusion and other preparations based on extracts of green tea are not reported significant side effects, but a possible reduction in blood pressure.

 

Infusion of Marine Oak, Horehound, Burdock and Ash

The mixture has excellent effects during a low calorie diet. The marine oak helps thyroid function and regulates the metabolism. The other plants? Ash is a diuretic, purifying burdock and horehound have digestive properties.

  • Ingredients for 20 days: Marine oak 130 grams, burdock 100 grams, ash 70 grams and horehound 100 grams.
  • Preparation: Pour boiling water on the mixture, cover and leave to infuse for ten minutes and then filtered.
  • How much: Two infusions per day, each time using 0.35-0.55 Ounces.

Attention! : The marine oak contains significant amounts of iodine and is therefore not recommended for those suffering from hyperthyroidism.

 

Infusion of Gymnema Sylvestre

It is a plant used in Ayurvedic medicine to accelerate the metabolism of sugars. It works by reducing the sensation of sweet taste buds, so it facilitates to renounce sugary foods. Its active components also reduce blood glucose levels, increase the production of insulin and the response intake of sugars.

  • Preparation: Leaf infusion.
  • How much: No more than two cups a day, each of which contains 1 to 3 grams of leaves to infuse in boiling water for seven to ten minutes.

Attention! : The preparations made from Gymnema reduce blood sugar, so should be used under medical control by people with diabetes who are being treated with drugs: the risk of incurring hypoglycemia.

 

Even a foot bath can relieve emotional eating.

  • Preparation: Add lemon balm, passionflower, chamomile and lime, herbs that prove a valuable sedative in case of tensions, in hot water with a temperature of 38 degrees.
  • When: Before main meals.

 

Glucomannan Supplements

It is a fiber derived from the root of Amorphophallus konjac, which is capable of absorbing water up to 200 times its own weight. It swells and forms a useful gelatinous mass to partially fill the stomach that can increase the sense of satiety. In addition, it reduces the absorption of lipids and carbohydrates and supports intestinal function.

  • How: Capsules and sachets.
  • How much: 3-4 grams a day, accompanied by plenty of water, one to two hours before main meals.

Attention! : The dose should be achieved gradually, over several days. Early on, in fact, the treatment can cause meteorism and abdominal cramps.

 

Gymnema Sylvestre Supplements

As well as an infusion, it can be taken in the form of supplements, with the same drawbacks of the leaves.

  • How: In capsules or tablets.
  • How much: From 400 to 800 milligrams daily.

 

Supplements with Opuntia

It is the common prickly pear. The pulp of the young leaves satisfied and reduces the absorption of fats and sugars. Recent research of the American Diabetes Association shows that the addition of Opuntia products to breakfast in diabetic subjects induced a reduction in the blood glucose concentration after the meal, with benefits in the weight loss.

  • How: Tablets and sachets.
  • How much: up to a maximum of 3 grams per day of dry extract, taken a quarter of an hour before meals.

Attention! : Flatulence, meteorism and abdominal cramps are possible in the early stages of treatment.

 

Rhodiola Supplements

It is a wild plant that grows in many mountainous areas. You can remove the cravings of carbohydrates and play a sedative anti-anxiety, greatly reducing the nervous hunger and increasing satiety. A study of 130 overweight people was an average loss of nine pounds in three months.

  • How: By tablets.
  • How much: From 360 to 600 milligrams per day of rhodiola rosea (titrated extract 1% rosavine), taken in the morning after breakfast and after lunch.

Attention! : At maximum doses can cause irritability and insomnia. Since it is a substance which acts upon nervous system, the dosage must be determined by your doctor.

 

Supplements with Guggul

It is a tropical species (Commiphora mukul) in the same family of plants which produce the myrrh. There are no official studies that prove the effectiveness of weight loss, but the guggul extract has long been used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for anti-obesity therapies.

  • How: Tablets and capsules.
  • How much: 4-5 grams a day, during meals.

Attention! : It may cause stomach upset and allergic rashes and interact with other medications. Avoid during pregnancy and lactation.

 

Green Tea Supplements

As well as drink, it can be taken as a dry extract.

  • How: Capsules or tablets.
  • How much: 200-300 milligrams of epicatechin after food.
